Write for us
We welcome clear, original pitches that help readers think more carefully about compatibility, preferences, introductions, conversation or match culture.
What makes a strong pitch
Tell us the question your piece will answer, why it matters to readers and how you would approach it. A strong proposal has a precise angle, a useful distinction or example, and a scope suited to an evergreen article. Avoid promises of guaranteed results, sweeping claims about what everyone wants and advice that depends on private details about identifiable people.
Contributions we consider
We consider essays and explanatory pieces that clarify matchmaking language, compare ways of thinking about preferences, examine the background of a custom or help readers prepare for a conversation. Submissions should be original, carefully reasoned and written for a general audience.
How to send a proposal
Send your pitch through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and including a working title, short summary and relevant writing sample if available. Please do not send confidential personal stories or identifying details about other people.
A match is more than a matching score
The language of compatibility can help people start a conversation, but it cannot tell the whole story. We look at the ideas and choices behind matchmaking, with room for nuance and individual difference.
